COUNTERCULT CREATIVES

Oh no, something went wrong. Please check your network connection and try again.

Hello, I'm Yasemin T.

Merhaba! I’m Yasemin a multidisciplinary artist, community weaver, and eternal migrant moving between New Jersey/New York, Berlin, Istanbul, and everywhere in between. My work lives at the intersection of sociology and art, memory and movement, belonging and becoming. Whether through Beats & Bites (a multi-sensory event series on home and identity that I co-founded with my partner), leading a community zine workshop on "Home" or walking a huge tree across Berlin in a decolonial art residency I create spaces that connect people, stories, and emotions. I’ve led storytelling projects, curated exhibitions, and facilitated workshops around migration, care, and collective creation. I would like to continue nurturing creative communities across the globe, working towards collective liberation and narrative change through meaningful and intentional community work, and continuing to evolve in my art practice collaborating with other inspiring souls! Right now, I’m freelancing on creative projects from visual design and workshops to content curation and community-rooted events and always open to collaborations that center joy, justice, and imagination. You can checkout my website for some of my past works and art background: https://yasemintekgurler.weebly.com/. I'm especially eager to grow Beats&Bites, bringing it to more places around the world, inviting and connecting more artists (DJs, mixologists, culinary artists, designers, photographers, traditional musicians, performers --anyone and everyone!), and creating a global community around the idea of home and belonging (for details, checkout @beats.x.bites; always happy to collaborate!). Let’s co-dream & co-create! Excited to be part of a community that centers creativity, collaboration, and the artists themselves at the core.
