We would like to invite you to a pop up exhibition “Späti Portrait Sessions”, in a local Späti in Neukölln featuring a concert by Pane Basa. Späti’s in Berlin are a place where we get our necessities and are spaces for meaningful connections. As part of the Späti Residency organised by Countercult, Frederic is embedding himself at a Späti and asking passerby to sit for a portrait drawing. The residency stems from the desire of connecting locals with Spätis through art in new and unique ways. Frederic will be exhibiting these drawings, likewise local band Pana Basa will play an acoustic set. Frederic is a visual artist based in Berlin from both Germany and Rwanda, his mediums are drawing with ink and watercolour on paper. The Pane Basa trio, based in Berlin, makes contemporary music stemming from their roots from Zimbabwe and South Africa. Their music consists of layers of mbira lines, tightly woven cello melodies, electronic effects punctuated by percussive grooves, poems and songs.
